Merry Christmas everyone! Santa has come to the blockchain, stuffing stockings with two new airdrops from The Open DAO and DappRadar. The SOS airdrop grants some amount to basically anyone who ever did anything on Opensea. The RADAR airdrop applies to users who registered with DappRadar, or who interacted with at least 10 dapps tracked by DappRadar.
SOS Airdrop
The SOS airdrop is managed by The Open DAO. 50% of the $SOS token supply is being airdropped to OpenSea users. The remainder is allocated to liquidity provider and staker rewards, and to the DAO.
The Open DAO’s stated goals include supporting artists, projects, and communities, as well as partial compensation to confirmed OpenSea scam victims.
The $SOS token contract is verified on Etherscan. Its price has increased substantially since launch, and the token currently commands nearly $300 million USD in market cap.
The airdrop is available to all users that have ever made a transaction on OpenSea. Airdrop amount is weighted 70% on amount spent, and 30% on number of transactions. Users have until June 30, 2022 to claim their airdrop before tokens return to the treasury.
The $SOS token was implemented by @9x9x9eth, a core contributor to The Open DAO. A variety of individuals have claimed the contract is not malicious and safe to claim, but some warn against hodling it due to token distribution and unrestrained mint functions for the dev team.
As always, all users are advised to DYOR before interacting with smart contracts. With this much public visibility around the airdrop, scammers are also a more present threat. Stay safe out there.
RADAR Airdrop
RADAR is the platform token for DappRadar, a protocol tracking a wide array of dapps across multiple chains. $RADAR utility will include a variety of DAO governance and listing curation functions. $RADAR will also be required for DappRadar Pro membership.
The $RADAR airdrop is available to two groups. Users who have both registered for DappRadar and made a transaction on an Ethereum mainnet dapp tracked by DappRadar are eligible for the larger amount. Users who did not register but have used at least 10 tracked dapps on Ethereum mainnet are eligible for a slightly smaller airdrop.
Airdrop eligibility was determined by a snapshot taken on October 19, 2021. It is not available in some geographies, including North Korea, Iran, and the United States.
$RADAR is verified on Etherscan and appears at surface-level inspection to be a standard ERC20 token with no malicious code. As always, DYOR before interacting, and follow good risk management and cybersecurity practices.
